When you set page margins, and add a table to a page, you can drag the table edges outside the Also, note that, by default, Word adjusts for cell margins when placing the table borders/edges. Hi I have a table set up with no auto fit and cell margin left of 0.5cm. All cells are set to be the same as. ![]() When I create a table in Word, there is a symbol of reverse arrows with a double line in between that shows up when I put the cursor over a gridline. This indicates that I can drag the line to adjust my column or row width or height. But I have a manuscript file with no tables in it, and the same symbol shows up when my cursor is right at the document's margins. It's like there is a hidden table or something. It's very strange and doesn't happen in any other of my Word docs. Does anyone know why? The other thing about this document is it is 1.7 MB but there are no photos or images imbedded. It's all type. You need to move the text upward by reducing the Top Margin in File>Page Setup. If that is not possible ('cos you already done did that), then (at the cost of appearance) try: reducing both Left and Right Margins in File>Page Setup. To get more text on each line reducing the font size EITHER for the whole page OR for points (paragraphs) that you consider to be marginally less important. AND/OR reducing the line spacing in Format>Paragraph set the line spacing to 'exactly' xx, where xx is 1 or two points less that the font size.
